Emergent partners with MEI on RISE Contract

Millennium Engineering and Integration Company (Millennium) was awarded the Research and Development Integrated Space Experiments (RISE) contract by the Air Force Research Laboratory / Space Vehicles Directorate (AFRL/RV) at the Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The IDIQ contract has a 7-year period of performance. Teammates supporting Millennium include Emergent Space Technologies, Inc., of Laurel, MD; Metis Technologies, Verus Research, and COSMIAC of Albuquerque, NM; MEI Technologies of Houston, TX; and Alion Science and Technology of McLean, VA. The RISE contract will support the Department of the Air Force’s Space Superiority Core mission requirements and Space Enterprise Vision growth areas by providing concept design, development, integration, test and evaluation of new space technologies, innovative, engineering prototypes, and new employment concepts.

The Air Force Research Laboratory’s Space Vehicles Directorate, Integrated Experiments and Evaluation Division, working with the other technical divisions within the directorate, conducts innovative research and development of ground, and spaceflight experiments. Research and development activities include mission analyses, systems engineering, integration and testing of components and subsystems through system-level integration and test, and execution of experiment mission operations. Emergent’s role on the contract focuses on Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT), systems engineering and technology development, and integration and test. Emergent will also support small satellite mission development tasks including systems and software engineering, flight dynamics, and guidance, navigation and control. “The RISE contract is important for Emergent and its support of key customers such as the U.S. Space Force, allowing us to provide technical services that are in high demand and are well aligned with our company’s core competencies, namely software development, spacecraft GN&C and GPS/GNSS PNT,” said Dr. George Davis, Emergent’s CEO. “Emergent is proud to be a key partner of Millennium on the RISE contract. We are excited to help support AFRL Space Vehicles Directorate’s mission,” stated Jaime Kline, Emergent’s recently appointed Director of Technical Services.
