Emergent Space Technologies Software Processes Appraised at CMMI-DEV Maturity Level 3
Emergent Space Technologies (Emergent) has been appraised at Level 3 of ISACA’s Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI®). CMMI is a proven, outcome-based performance model and the globally accepted standard for improving capability, optimizing business performance, and aligning operations to business goals. Administered by the CMMI Institute, a subsidiary of ISACA, it was developed at Carnegie Mellon University and is required by many U.S. Government contracts, especially in software development. An appraisal at Maturity Level 3 indicates an organization is performing at a “defined” level. At this level, its processes are well characterized and understood, and are described in standards, procedures, tools, and methods. The organization’s standard processes, which are the basis for Maturity Level 3, have been established and are improved over time.
“Emergent researches, develops, integrates, and tests advanced systems and software solutions for civil, military and commercial space missions”, said Dr. George Davis, CEO of Emergent. “As industry leaders in the development of flight software for distributed space system autonomy, having repeatable quality measures that align to our exacting standards is of great importance to our company and to what we call ‘The Emergent Way’. We are very proud to have again attained Maturity Level 3, and according to our Lead Appraiser from Broadsword, we did so by scoring over 90% in our benchmark appraisal, which is rare, especially among companies our size. It is a testament to the hard work of our outstanding software managers and developers.”
