The Marine Autonomous Range Surveillance (MARS) system was developed by Emergent to serve as a strap-down payload for autonomous surface vessels and enable situational awareness in the launch environment. The system consists of an extensible sensor payload and a corresponding ground system and user display.
The payload can be fitted with sensors suited for the marine environment, such as cameras, weather sensors, marine radar, attitude sensors, AIS, and/or GPS, the data from which are fused and displayed to the operator, who can monitor a large area remotely. This benefits users that need immediate notification if there is an unsafe incursion in to the launch range. The MARS platform is also modular, allowing for the addition or removal of sensors as individual requirements change.
